tougher than I it would be but part of that was the heat. I have done races in pretty hot weather but this might have been the hottest. And I had been training in snow and cold weather. The race started out faster than I expected actually. I started in the second row and got a pretty good start but it was really fast. For the first half mile of the race I was second in my age group but I past first at about the half mile point. After I past him I felt great and about 5 minutes later I looked back and he was nowhere in sight. In the valley there was a lot of rolling hills that were awesome I got cruising fast in it and got some distance on second place in the age group. Then I hit the road stretch at about the halfway mark and the heat was almost unbearable and I started slowing down a lot. And at about mile 9.5 I was past by the kid that got first in the age group. And he took off. but once I got to the really steep trail uphill I started speeding up and feeling good again. for the last 3 miles I felt pretty good and decided to enjoy myself because I knew I had a good lead on 3rd in the age group. I finished in 1:57 and 105 overall out of 818 people. I got 2nd in the 10-14 age group out of 6 people.
